Painting on silk is a wonderful way to produce vibrant glowing art works whether in the form of paintings, scarves, cushion-covers, clothing or wall-hangings. In this class you will learn all the necessary techniques and options, including a basic understanding of colour and composition in a painting or design. You will learn about the dyes and how to handle them, the different kinds of frames that can be used to stretch the silk, and the use of gutta as a resist, to curb the flow of the dyes. Other methods will include water colour technique, wax technique, using salt, sugar and alcohol for special effects, stamping, stencilling, and using thickener and anti-spread medium for painterly techniques.
