Inner City Unit: One Night Only!

Image.ashx-4Progressive musician and rock renegade Nik Turner is heading to The Firestation for one night only for an exclusive date this Fri 06 Dec!

Having cherry-picked elements from genres and cultures around the world and adding his own experimental flavour, Turner founded Inner City Unit. Prior to this, he wrote and performed as part of seminal space rock band Hawkwind, and went on to set up Sphynx, Nik Turner’s Fantastic Allstars and Pinkwind, as well as Galaktikos, the Nik Turner Band, Outriders of the Apocolypse and PROJECT9. Get ready for a psychedelic trip down memory lane! We’re delighted to welcome Nik and Inner City Unit to The Firestation for this exclusive set, including great tracks from albums Pass Out and The Maximum Effect.

Paradise 9 is Gregg McKella (ex-Dreamfield/e-Image Wot Image)on main vocals, guitar, glissando guitar, psychedelic clarinet and space FX’s, Carl Sampson on drums/backing vocals, Neil Matthars on bass, Tyrone Thomas (Olympic Clamp Down/ex-Alternative TV) on lead guitar and Jaki Windmill (the late Mick Farren’s Deviants /ex-Space Ritual/ex-Whimwise) on djembe, percussion and backing vocals.

They have been described as psychedelic, proto-punk, space rock/space-core with hints of ambient & dub, and have been described as “Hawkwind meets Joe Strummer” by reviewer Abi Rhodes.
